When making the choice to be revolutionary versus staying ordinary, there will always be 1000 reasons to remain ordinary.
I experienced an interesting thing while I was attending The !deation Conference. The !deation Conference is a conference focused on nonprofit work, collaboration, and implementing ideas that took place in Long Beach this last week and was hosted by Charles Lee (ideationconference.com). I, like many people who attended the conference was overwhelmed by the people/ speakers who were asked to be a part of this conference. So many people that attended were not just people that desired to change the world but in fact are changing the world right now.
It was nothing short of completely invigorating to be in the midst of so many do-ers that are making an impact in people’s lives all over the world. This conference, was an example of the shock treatment that many people need, in order to break free from living a drone-like existence. An existence focused solely on maintaining life and forgetting what it means to dream and create the future. As I find myself at a crossroads where I am choosing to make some radical life choices, this environment was just where I needed to be this last week.
This experience taught me an extremely valuable lesson about how I can better support other people’s dreams and visions. Why in a world where most news sources report the negative news, would I desire to consciously or subconsciously poke holes in others dreams? I want to consciously be aware that I am making an effort to support others dreams through affirmation and collaborating with them any way that I am able to.
I believe the world would be a much better place if more people made an effort to support people’s dreams instead of telling them (through words and actions) how unlikely they are to succeed in their endeavors. This brings me back to the quote that I started my post with, “When making the choice to be revolutionary versus staying ordinary, there will always be 1000 reasons to remain ordinary.” What does one achieve by standing in the way of another person’s dreams? I conclude my post with this, you are the HOPE. Each individual person reading this post is the key and the answer to more people’s dreams being realized and brought to life.
We are all able to be the HOPE that other people need.
